Can you use paint to color candles?

Regular water-based non-toxic acrylic paint will work with a little patience. At the end of this post, I will include my notes about the safey of burning painted candles. If you use too much paint, it will leak below the tape. It takes a few light coats to cover the wax.

Can I put eyeshadow in a candle?

Pigments don't dissolve in wax, therefore they act like large rocks in the candle. Even if they're coloring the candle beautifully, they'll completely clog the wick and ruin everything. The "rocks" get stuck in the weave of the wick and don't allow enough melted wax through to keep the flame lit. Is liquid dye better for candles? For more vibrant colours we recommend using liquid dye. Another option is to double the amount of dye chips or liquid dye you are using. If you choose to add more dye, be careful not to add too much as this will interfere with the performance of the wick and the burn ability of the candle.
