So Fey Ancestry gives advantage on any saving throw to avoid receiving the Charmed condition. Or to put it differently, a creature with Fey Ancestry has advantage on any saving throw made to avoid the effect of a spell, trap, or other effect that inflicts the Charmed condition.
Why would eladrin leave the Feywild?
My Faun character from the Feywild left for love. Some adventurers came through and saved her and she fell in love with one of them after a while of being their guide. Once the adventurers she was with got what they needed - they left through the portal they arrived in. Can fey be evil? Many seelie fey are good, and many unseelie are evil... There's plenty of evidence that can be found in the 4e books Manual of the Planes and HotF and the 5e DMG to suggest that the Feywild is certainly not full of only good creatures.
