Is a PhysX card worth it?
Personally, I've found it to be well worth it, as some really great games use it, and to spectacular effect. Furthermore, PhysX often appears in very high-end games that use plenty of other advanced features, in which case you want to give your PC all the help it can get.
Keeping this in consideration, what is physx card?
PhysX is an open-source realtime physics engine middleware SDK developed by Nvidia as a part of Nvidia GameWorks software suite. However, after Ageia's acquisition by Nvidia, dedicated PhysX cards have been discontinued in favor of the API being run on CUDA-enabled GeForce GPUs. Is PhysX better on CPU or GPU? With PhysX set to use the GPU, you will usually get better game performance but there will be times when a game doesn't run as well. If you have a stuttering game, set PhysX to either auto or to use the CPU instead.
And another question, is physx still relevant?
PhysX is very much alive and currently the most popular physics middleware alongside Havok. It's baked into Unity and Unreal Engine 4 and a great number of other games also use it. Initially, video games supporting PhysX were meant to be accelerated by PhysX PPU (expansion cards designed by Ageia). Should I turn on dedicate to PhysX? Should I dedicate a GPU to PhysX? You can just dedicate a GPU to process only physics in the graphics card options if you have multiple cards. Considering that most newer Nvidia/AMD GPUs are compatible with Physx, you don't really need one. You'd be better off getting a second graphics card.
Subsequently, how do you use physx?
From the NVIDIA Control Panel navigation tree pane, under 3D Settings, select Set PhysX configuration to open the associated page. Under Select a PhysX processor, click the list and then select the NVIDIA GPU to use for PhysX acceleration. Click Apply.
