Why do candle flames move?
When a candle burns, the flame heats the nearby air and starts to rise. As this warm air moves up, cooler air and oxygen rush in at the bottom of the flame to replace it. This creates a continual cycle of upward moving air around the flame (a convection current), which gives the flame its elongated or teardrop shape.
Also, why is my candle flame dancing?
Any bursts of air that cause your candle flame to dance around also cause your wick to use fuel at an inconsistent pace. The wick is drawing oil from the candle wax as fuel, and a buildup is created within the wick. Bursts of air cause the flame to burn less oil than the wick is taking in. Why is my candle flame bouncing? Sometimes a draft or burst of air can cause your candle to smoke as it burns, which reduces the air quality in your home. When a rush of air makes the flame flicker in and out, this can also cause your wick to fuel the candle inconsistently by drawing too much oil from the candle wax.
Then, what candles dont leave soot?
Soy candles produce less soot and toxic chemicals than candles made from paraffin. Even though the smoke is cleaner, it's a good idea to minimize your intake of any type of smoke. And another question, how long should you burn a candle? As a rule of thumb, candles should not be allowed to burn for longer than four hours. After putting out the flame, let the candle cool for two hours before relighting. Also, make sure you keep the flame away from moving air.
Are candles bad for you?
Exposure to chemicals emitted by scented candles "is so low that they pose no significant risk to human health," she said. "Even the highest users of scented candles and other fragranced products are not putting themselves at any appreciable risk of harm." Then, why is my burner flame orange? A gas flame appearing yellow or orange in color or behaving with pops of yellow or orange indicates an improper ratio of oxygen for combustion. Often this improper combustion is temporary and could be caused by dust particles or a dirty burner that needs cleaning.
